Abstract
The article presents the results of measurements of electricity quality parameters of the power line feeding a middle size industrial plant. The chosen industrial plant is supplied by a medium – voltage line through transformer stations 15/04 kV. The aim of these measurements was to evaluate the influence of the devices that are used in the plant (the production lines) on the power line, particularly, the evaluation of the kind and dimension of their influences on the power lines. The results and their analysis enabled us to evaluate the power quality that is supplied to the industrial plant, on both sides, the secondary side of the transformer and individually for technological lines. The research was also done in order to show the effectiveness of introducing the reactive power compensation and to prove whether the continuation of improvement of the power quality is needed or even necessary and whether it will influence the decrease in costs of purchasing the electric power. To do the research, a special measuring instrument was used - the analyzer of the power quality; and the results obtained enabled to answer many questions concerning the problems with the power quality. To sum up, on the basis on the obtained results before and after compensation of reactive power, the power quality has improved significantly after adding capacitors battery. However, the possibility of use of passive filters of higher harmonics should be considered in order to limit the content of harmonics in the phase current and at the same time to decrease the effective value of the currents and the losses of the power. It should result in the further improvement of the power quality in the line supplying the chosen industrial plant.
