THE PHENOMENON OF THE RWANDAN STATE: TRAUMA FROM CRIMES AS MOTIVATION FOR CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT. (2026). Humanities and Social Sciences, 33(2), 129-137. https://doi.org/10.7862/rz.2026.hss.20

Abstract

The article offers reflections on Rwanda, its past, and its dynamic development over the years. The experiences of the escalating crisis, fratricidal struggles, whose tragic end was the genocide in 1994, still constitute trauma for subsequent generations, despite efforts to build a new society, but also serve as a factor motivating impressive changes. The genocide in Rwanda is also one of the greatest failures in the history of the United Nations Organization (UN), a crime fueled by external influences and interference in Rwanda's political situation, events that the rest of the world passively observed. The inspiration for the author to write the article was a conversation with Professor Anastase Shyaka, the Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda in Poland, during which a diagnostic survey method using individual expert interviews was employed. The author conducts research on global conflicts and their consequences, including migration, as part of his scientific interests. This method made it possible to conduct an interview and write a scientific essay that included a critical analysis and the author’s subjective reflections. The article aims to present the changes that have taken place in the Republic of Rwanda. These changes are also evident in distant Poland, where they have attracted interest and recognition.
