Mission Statement
The Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) quarterly is a peer-reviewed academic journal popularising research results and reviews that encompass selected areas of social sciences (management and quality, politics and administration, security, psychology) and humanities (history, philosophy). The diversity of the topics stems from over 30 years of the journal’s tradition, throughout which texts regarding widely understood humanities and social sciences have been published therein. Since 2018, the editors have assumed a strategy of narrowing down the scope of published research. Nevertheless, the journal is still interdisciplinary in nature and provides a platform for scientificreflection and discussion within the areas of humanities and social sciences as specified by the editors.
The research results published in the journal are addressed at the scientific community, researchers dealing with the selected areas, as well as experts and practitioners. The journal’s goal is to establish a broad forum for a discussion between scientists and practitioners in Poland and abroad. The journal is a regularly issued quarterly with all texts published in English, which guarantees a larger readership outside the country. Numerous promotional actions have also been undertaken which have increased the recognition and popularity of the journal on the Polish and international scene.
HSS publishes scientific articles, scientific information, and monograph reviews that are in accordance with the journal’s profile and satisfy the editorial requirements listed on the HSS website. All texts need to be positively assessed by independent reviewers and deemed eligible for print by the editors.
The HSS editorial team aims to achieve the highest academic standard of published texts and adherence to ethical standards. Therefore, a review procedure following the guidelines listed in “Review procedures in science: good practices” has been adopted. The procedures recommended by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) have also been applied.
Sending the manuscript to a review indicates that the authors agree to the review procedure, editorial works, publishing the text, and sharing its entirety within an open system. It is also seen as a confirmation of authorship and the original content of the publication.
The journal is financed by the Faculty of Management at the Rzeszów University of Technology and the funds allocated for the 2019-2020 project entitled “Support for scientific journals.”
The authors of texts submitted before 1 January 2021 have not been charged for publication.
HSS is issued by the Publishing House of the Rzeszów University of Technology.
